The Best Museums and Attractions to Check Out in San Antonio

San Antonio, TX has a whole host of museums and other destinations where you can discover the richness of our history, culture, and a whole bunch of other neat details that helped to develop our city into a great place to live. Here at A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we’ve been helping people move to and around San Antonio for a long time, and this has allowed us to become very familiar with some of the coolest and most interesting exhibits.

After you get yourself accustomed to your new surroundings, you should definitely take some time to check out the following museums and exhibits:

  • The Alamo – After getting settled in, you should make visiting the Alamo one of your first weekend excursions. There is so much rich history contained here, and the Alamo has had a huge impact on not only the history of San Antonio, but the United States on the whole. With free entry for a basic walk around, it’s well within everyone’s budget also.
  • McNay Art Museum – If you’re looking for an art collection spanning thousands of years, then this is your gallery. The McNay Art Museum has a huge variety of art on display ranging from European to American to Latino, Modern to Contemporary, and just about everything in between. Outdoor pieces are a nice addition to the typical indoor paintings and sculptures you might see in a typical art museum. They have a wonderful French art glass collection that we highly recommend checking out while you’re there.
  • Witte Museum – If you’re looking for a historical look at San Antonio, you’ll want to stop by the Witte Museum. They have information on the wildlife, people, and cultures of the local area dating back hundreds to thousands of years. It will give you a great idea on how the area came to be the great city you see before you today.


After spending a few hours touring these places, you’ll have a much better understanding for San Antonio. You’ll be quite a bit more acclimated to the city, and you’ll have a better connection to the rich history that has created our wonderful home.
