couple moving tvSomething terrible that can happen when moving is breaking something important… specifically the TV…. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it’s horrible to break your TV during the move. We want to do everything we can to make your move as stress-free as it can be here in San Antonio, whether you’re moving locally or long distance. That’s why we write up some tips and tricks to use when you are getting your TV ready for the move.

In order to move your television, you will require a box that’s will work for transporting your TV. A great a good thing to use is the TV’s original packaging – if you still have it. If not,, you can find a box made specially for moving televisions from either a hardware store or a moving supply retailer. You should use a box that is just a little bit bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to move around when it’s inside. Transporting fragile and expensive items requires packing and preparation training and knowledge, not simply large trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group we have a team of experienced movers who can help you with your move, however they can, even if it’s just getting your TV ready to load.

Before unplugging everything, a good idea is to snap a few pictures of the back of your TV with all the cords still plugged in. This will make your life much easier when the time comes to reinstall your television. After this, get your TV ready to pack up. First disconnect the power cord, then any other connecting wires and cords. Get all of it in a bag together and keep it with the box. You may have a base you need to take off of the television to fit it in the box. If that’s the case, put all screws and other parts in a little bag and keep it in the box with the TV’s base so it doesn’t get lost.

Once you’re finished, you can get the TV all packed up. Whether your new home is far from San Antonio or you are only moving locally, it’s very important to know your television is properly covered. Use foam pieces to go over the TV screen, these will come in your kit if you decided to buy one, or in the box that your TV came in if you have it. The foam doesn’t just keep the screen from being scratched, but it also will keep your television from bumping around in the box when you’re moving. Secure the foam pieces with mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the whole TV and prevent it from being scratched.

After your TV is all covered up it’s time to put it inside of the box! Keep it upright when you do this, and make sure it’s secure by stuffing holes with blankets or even clothes. That way the TV won’t move and shift around in the box during the move.

loading boxes into truck The last step is to get the television inside of the moving truck. Make sure you keep the box upright and put it next to or between other flat surfaced, sturdy furniture, like your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. Don’t forget to have your cables close to the TV, whether they’re in a bag taped to the side or in another box.

Then you’re ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in San Antonio to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered!
